Interview Prep Study Sheet — Get the Edge Before Every Round
Kandid.pro's AI-powered interview preparation generates a personalised, structured Study Sheet for each interview round. The more context you provide — especially about your interviewers — the sharper your preparation becomes.
How It Works
When you click the Prep button on any interview round, Kandid.pro's AI analyses three things:
- The interview round — type, format, duration, and any notes you've added
- The job context — the role, company, and job description from your application
- Your interviewers — their career history, current role, seniority, and professional background
From this, it generates a structured Interview Prep Study Sheet — a complete briefing document covering interviewer intelligence, strategic positioning, likely questions with response guidance, and a ready-to-use STAR Story Bank.
Why Interviewer Profiles Matter
The difference between generic interview prep and great interview prep is context. When Kandid.pro knows who you're meeting, it can:
- Predict what they'll ask — A VP of Engineering will probe differently to a Staff Developer. A hiring manager focuses on team fit; a peer interviewer digs into technical depth.
- Tailor your talking points — If your interviewer spent 8 years at a fintech startup before joining the company, Kandid.pro highlights the parts of your experience that resonate with that background.
- Suggest smarter questions — Instead of generic "What's the team culture like?", you get questions informed by the interviewer's career trajectory and current responsibilities.
Without interviewer data, Kandid.pro still generates a useful Study Sheet based on the job description and interview type — but you're leaving the most valuable insights on the table.
Adding Interviewers to a Round
There are two ways to add interviewers to an interview round:
Option 1: Quick Add (Name and Role Only)
When creating or editing an interview round, add interviewer names and roles directly. This gives the AI basic context about who you're meeting.
- Open the interview round (click the edit icon)
- Scroll to the Interviewers section
- Add each interviewer's name and role
- Save the round
This is a good starting point, but for the best results, link your interviewers to full contact profiles.
Option 2: Link to a Contact with a Career Profile (Recommended)
For a significantly better Study Sheet, link each interviewer to a contact record that has a career profile. This gives the AI access to their full career history, education, and professional background.
- Create a contact for your interviewer (or find them in your existing contacts)
- Populate their career profile (see below for the fastest way)
- When adding interviewers to the round, use the contact picker to link them
- The AI will automatically pull in their career history when generating the Study Sheet
Using the Browser Extension to Build Interviewer Profiles
The fastest way to populate an interviewer's career profile is with the Kandid.pro browser extension. Instead of manually typing out someone's career history, the extension captures it directly from LinkedIn in seconds.
Step-by-Step
-
Install the extension — Go to Settings and open the Chrome / Edge Extension tab. Follow the setup guide to install and configure your API key.
-
Find your interviewer on LinkedIn — Once you know who's interviewing you (from the recruiter, calendar invite, or company careers page), look them up on LinkedIn.
-
Capture their profile — With the extension active, navigate to the interviewer's LinkedIn profile page. The extension captures their career history, education, headline, and current role.
-
Link to a contact — The captured data creates or updates a contact in Kandid.pro with a full career profile attached.
-
Add them to the interview round — Edit your interview round and use the contact picker to link the interviewer. Their full career profile is now available to the AI.
What Gets Captured
The extension imports the following from a LinkedIn profile:
| Data | Details |
|---|---|
| Current title and company | Their active role and employer |
| Career history | All roles with companies, dates, and duration |
| Education | Degrees, institutions, and dates |
| LinkedIn headline | How they position themselves professionally |
| Location | Geographic location |
All of this feeds directly into the AI prompt, giving it rich context about who you're sitting across from.
The Study Sheet Output
When you click Prep, a background job runs and generates a structured Interview Prep Study Sheet that appears directly on the interview round card. The Study Sheet contains the following sections:
Hero Callout — Strategic Positioning Banner
A single compelling headline positioning your key advantage for this specific round, followed by 1–2 paragraphs of strategic positioning advice: what to lead with, how to frame your experience, and the narrative thread to maintain. Includes optional guardrails — key things to avoid saying or doing.
Section 1: Interviewer Profiles & Likely Focus Areas
A table for each interviewer showing their name, title, background summary, and what they're likely to probe based on their experience and seniority.
Section 2: Role & Company Context
Key concepts, products, and domain knowledge relevant to the role — 5–8 items presented as a reference table so you can speak confidently about the company's landscape.
Section 3: Round-Specific Preparation
Specific preparation activities tailored to the round type (e.g., technical, behavioural, panel). Includes an optional framing note on how to approach the round.
Section 4: Key Talking Points
5–8 concise talking points to weave into your answers — how to position your experience for this particular round.
Section 5: Likely Questions
6–10 probable interview questions, each with guidance on how to structure your response.
Section 6: Questions to Ask
4–6 strategic questions for you to ask the interviewers, with reasoning on why each is valuable.
Section 7: Overall Strategy
A cohesive strategy covering key themes, energy management, timing advice, and how to close strong.
STAR Story Bank
A dedicated section containing a ready-to-use bank of STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) stories drawn from your Career Profile:
- Competency Matrix — maps competencies to relevant stories so you can quickly find the right example
- Stories — each story includes a title, priority level, the competencies it covers, full STAR breakdown, and a quick-recall memory trigger phrase
- Method Note — a brief explanation of the STAR method for reference
Round-Type Adaptation
The Study Sheet adapts its depth and focus based on the round type:
| Round Type | Focus |
|---|---|
| Technical / Skills Assessment | Technical deep-dives and solution-oriented prep |
| Behavioural / Values & Culture | Behavioural competencies and culture alignment |
| Panel | Per-interviewer strategy and coordination advice |
| Initial Screen | Lighter technical depth, rapport-building focus |
| Solution Design / Practical Assessment | Problem-solving frameworks and structured thinking |
| Final | Strategic questions, negotiation readiness, closing strong |
Tips for a Better Study Sheet
- Add all confirmed interviewers — even partial information (name and role) is better than none
- Use the extension for career profiles — the richer the interviewer data, the more specific and useful the Study Sheet
- Include the interview type — a "Technical Assessment" generates a different Study Sheet than a "Culture Fit" round
- Add a location or format — knowing it's a video call vs. on-site helps tailor logistical advice
- Check the calendar invite — interviewer names are often listed there. Look them up on LinkedIn before your prep session
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I generate a Study Sheet without any interviewers? Yes. Kandid.pro will generate a Study Sheet based on the job description and interview type. You'll see a prompt asking if you'd like to continue without interviewers — the output will still be useful, but less targeted.
Can I regenerate the Study Sheet after adding interviewers? Yes. Click the Prep button again at any time. A new Study Sheet replaces the previous version.
Does the extension work with Edge? Yes. The Kandid.pro extension works with both Chrome and Microsoft Edge (and any Chromium-based browser).
