My Focus — Personalise Your Experience

Choose a job search persona to reconfigure your dashboard, match scoring, kanban cards, and daily momentum goal in one click.

User Guide: My Focus — Personalise Your Kandid.pro Experience

This guide explains how the My Focus feature works — how to choose a job search persona, what each preset configures, and how to change your focus at any time.

The Benefit: Why Choose a Focus?

Everyone's job search is different. An active applicant juggling dozens of interviews needs a very different dashboard from someone easing back into work after a career break. My Focus lets you tell Kandid.pro what kind of search you are running, and the platform reshapes itself to match — dashboard layout, scoring strategy, card details, and daily goals all update in one click.

  • Instant Relevance: Your dashboard shows the tiles that matter most for your situation, so you spend less time configuring and more time progressing.
  • Smarter Scoring: Match scores adjust their strategy based on your persona — career changers and returners get a more forgiving score that focuses on required skills only.
  • Right-Sized Goals: Daily momentum targets are calibrated to your pace, from a gentle 25 points for returners to a faster 50 for active hunters.
  • Cleaner Cards: Kanban cards show only the info items relevant to your workflow, reducing visual noise.

Where My Focus Appears

My Focus is set in two places:

  1. Welcome Wizard — During first-time onboarding, the wizard asks "What brings you to Kandid.pro?" and presents the four focus modes. Your selection is applied automatically when the wizard completes.
  2. Settings > My Focus — You can change your focus at any time from the My Focus tab in Settings. Selecting a new persona shows a confirmation dialog before applying.

The Four Focus Modes

Active Hunter

Tagline: Move fast, land interviews

Best for job seekers who are actively applying at volume — sending multiple applications per week and managing a busy interview pipeline.

What this preset configures:

  • Dashboard — My Workspace: Statistics, Application Status Flow Chart, Momentum, Applications Chart, Quick Actions, Application Frequency Heatmap
  • Dashboard — Analytics & Funnel: Statistics, Application Status Flow, Application Frequency Heatmap, Momentum Frequency Heatmap, Applications Chart, Top Companies
  • Skill-gaps lens: "What is blocking me from sending this?" — gaps ordered by what stands between you and hitting submit
  • Kanban Card Info: Last Updated, ATS Score, Match Score, Sub-Status, Outcome, AI Progress
  • Daily Momentum Goal: 50 points
  • Match Score Strategy: Overall — counts both required AND preferred skills for stricter scoring

Key benefits:

  • Dashboard focused on pipeline velocity and application flow
  • ATS scores and skills match visible on kanban cards
  • The skill-gaps stage is framed around shipping the application, not studying it
  • Full skills matching — required and preferred skills counted

Career Transition

Tagline: Reframe your experience with confidence

Best for people moving into a new field or role — where transferable skills matter more than ticking every box.

What this preset configures:

  • Dashboard — My Workspace: Momentum, Favourite Applications, Goals, Top Companies, Upcoming Tasks
  • Dashboard — Analytics & Funnel: Statistics, Applications Chart, Top Companies, Favourite Applications, Goals
  • Skill-gaps lens: "Here is their requirement — here is your evidence" — each requirement is placed beside the experience you already have that answers it
  • Kanban Card Info: Last Updated, Match Score, Sub-Status, Outcome, AI Progress
  • Daily Momentum Goal: 40 points
  • Match Score Strategy: Required Only — counts only required skills, so career pivots are not penalised for missing preferred qualifications

Key benefits:

  • Dashboard centred on momentum, goals, and your top companies
  • The skill-gaps stage pairs every requirement with your transferable evidence, so a pivot reads as a translation rather than a shortfall
  • Match scores focus on required skills only — more forgiving for career pivots
  • A slightly gentler daily momentum goal to keep you moving without burnout

Return to Work

Tagline: Small steps, big momentum

Best for people re-entering the workforce after a career break — parenting, caring, health, study, or any other reason. The preset keeps things calm and achievable.

What this preset configures:

  • Dashboard — My Workspace: Today Planner, Weekly Summary, Goals, Quick Actions, Momentum Frequency Heatmap
  • Dashboard — Analytics & Funnel: Statistics, Application Frequency Heatmap, Momentum Frequency Heatmap, Applications Chart, Top Companies
  • Skill-gaps lens: "What do you already bring to this?" — the stage leads with the strengths you have, deliberately without deficit framing
  • Kanban Card Info: Last Updated, Sub-Status, Outcome, AI Progress
  • Daily Momentum Goal: 25 points (the gentlest target)
  • Match Score Strategy: Required Only — career breaks do not penalise you

Key benefits:

  • Dashboard starts with your Today planner and weekly summary for a calm overview
  • A gentle daily momentum goal so progress feels achievable, not overwhelming
  • The skill-gaps stage never opens with a list of what you lack — that is a design decision, not a setting
  • Match scores focus on required skills only — career breaks do not penalise you
  • AI writing assistant offers a career re-entry variant to reframe your experience positively
  • Kanban cards keep things simple — just status, outcome, and progress

Ethical & Purpose-Driven

Tagline: Find roles that align with your values

Best for people targeting mission-driven organisations, B Corps, charities, or social enterprises — where networking and lead management are central to the search.

What this preset configures:

  • Dashboard — My Workspace: Lead Pipeline, Lead Funnel Chart, Upcoming Contacts, Upcoming Events, Stale Lead Report, Interaction Heatmap
  • Dashboard — Analytics & Funnel: Statistics, Application Status Flow, Application Frequency Heatmap, Momentum Frequency Heatmap, Applications Chart, Top Companies
  • Skill-gaps lens: requirements presented as numbered selection criteria, in the form KSC responses need
  • Kanban Card Info: Last Updated, ATS Score, Sub-Status, Outcome, AI Progress
  • Daily Momentum Goal: 50 points
  • Match Score Strategy: Overall — counts both required AND preferred skills

Key benefits:

  • Dashboard built around your lead pipeline, contacts, and networking events
  • ATS scores on kanban cards to keep your applications criteria-ready
  • The skill-gaps stage numbers each requirement as a criterion, feeding straight into a Key Selection Criteria response
  • Full skills matching — required and preferred skills counted

What Each Preset Configures — Summary Tables

Dashboard Tabs

Each persona creates two dashboard tabs with different tile layouts:

PersonaMy Workspace TilesAnalytics & Funnel Tiles
Active HunterStatistics, Application Status Flow Chart, Momentum, Applications Chart, Quick Actions, Application Frequency HeatmapStatistics, Application Status Flow, Application Frequency Heatmap, Momentum Frequency Heatmap, Applications Chart, Top Companies
Career TransitionMomentum, Favourite Applications, Goals, Top Companies, Upcoming TasksStatistics, Applications Chart, Top Companies, Favourite Applications, Goals

Ethical & Purpose-DrivenLead Pipeline, Lead Funnel Chart, Upcoming Contacts, Upcoming Events, Stale Lead Report, Interaction HeatmapStatistics, Application Status Flow, Application Frequency Heatmap, Momentum Frequency Heatmap, Applications Chart, Top Companies

The Skill-Gaps Lens

This is the sharpest difference between the personas. Inside a job application, the Close your skill gaps stage asks a different question depending on your focus — same underlying analysis, presented to serve a different search.

PersonaThe question the stage asksWhat you see
Active HunterWhat is blocking me from sending this?Gaps ranked by what stands between you and submitting
Career TransitionWhat evidence do I already have for this? Each of their requirements set beside your matching experience
Return to WorkWhat do I already bring?Strengths first — no deficit framing, by design
Ethical & Purpose-DrivenHow do I answer each criterion?Requirements as numbered selection criteria, ready for a KSC response

There is no switcher on the page — the lens follows your focus, so you change it here in My Focus.

Changing Your Focus

  1. Go to Settings > My Focus.
  2. Browse the four persona cards. The currently active persona has a green checkmark and a coloured border.
  3. Click "What this preset configures" on any card to expand a summary of what will change.
  4. Click the persona you want to switch to.
  5. A confirmation dialog appears: "This will replace your existing dashboard tabs with the [persona] preset. Your current dashboard layout and customisations will be lost."
  6. Confirm to apply. Your dashboard refreshes immediately with the new layout.

Tip: Changing your focus does not delete any applications, documents, or career profile data. It only reconfigures your dashboard layout, scoring strategy, card display, and daily goal. You can switch as often as you like.
